Why Join CVFSC?
For old or young, recreational or competitive figure skater or coach, Cascade Valley Figure Skating Club (CVFSC) represents a diverse group of skaters who embody the spirit of the Cascades by supporting all needs of the skaters and coaches. Our club fosters an environment that promotes a friendly, encouraging atmosphere among skaters in which we celebrate all successes and achievements.
Being a member of the club is like joining a community. We are all dedicated to the sport of figure skating and the well-being of our member skaters. The membership year runs from July 1 until June 30. While we welcome skaters of all levels, including those participating in Learn to Skate USA, CVFSC membership is geared toward skaters competing at No Test and above.

Member Benefits
Annual Competition
Every spring we host the Cascade Ice Classic. The competition provides a venue for CVFSC members, plus members of other Learn to Skate USA and figure skating clubs in the area to showcase their skills in a competitive environment. Our current competition is a U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned "Compete USA" competition, serving levels from Snowplow Sam to Preliminary, plus adult and showcase. We hope to be able to offer an expanded competition in future years.

Test Sessions
Skaters looking to progress through the test track from Pre-Preliminary to Senior (Gold), will need to participate in testing. Tests are taken in front of U.S. Figure Skating official judges and require passing marks in each test to advance the skater to the next level. Skaters test in Moves in the Field (which emphasize basic skating skills and edge control), Free Skating (similar to competition programs), Pairs and Ice Dancing. The highest achievement in each discipline is the Gold Test. Skaters passing their Gold Test are eligible to purchase a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist jacket in recognition of the achievement. Click here for a visual guide to the U.S. Figure Skating test track and levels.

Social Events & Club Ice
We put on a number of social events throughout the year, partly coordinated by our Athletes' Committee. We feature seasonal club ice events, which are typically free to club members, and the club covers the cost of the ice time. This is a time to practice your skills (jumps and spins are allowed, unlike on public skate), or skate for fun with your friends. We serve refreshments and sometimes have prizes to win. We also coordinate off-site events, for example, pool parties in the summer and more! Check out our Events page for upcoming opportunities.

Exhibitions
In conjunction with Sno-King Renton, we help to organize U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned exhibition shows throughout the year. These include the Spring Exhibition, which helps skaters prepare for the upcoming competition season, the Regional Send-Off Exhibition, to celebrate our skaters who are competing at Regionals (we also provide gifts for those skaters), and the annual Holiday Show in December.

Annual Costume and Skating Gear Sale
Once a year, we promote and put on our Costume and Skating Gear Sale. The sale is an opportunity for members to sell their gently used items on consignment, and for other skaters (especially those new to the sport) it's a chance to pick up gear at a fraction of the cost of new items.
