Why Join Cascade Valley FSC?

For old or young, recreational or competitive figure skater or coach, Cascade Valley Figure Skating Club (CVFSC) represents a diverse group of skaters who embody the spirit of the Cascades by supporting all the needs of its skaters under the careful guidance of our wonderful coaches. Our club fosters an environment that promotes a friendly, encouraging atmosphere among skaters in which we celebrate all successes and achievements.

When you become a member of Cascade Valley FSC, you are joining a special skating community.  We are all dedicated to the sport of figure skating and the well-being of our member skaters.  While we welcome skaters of all levels, including those participating in Learn to Skate USA, CVFSC membership is geared toward skaters who have a desire to test and compete.

Read more about joining a skating club on our FAQ page.

Member Benefits

  • U.S. Figure Skating Membership

  • Discounted Freestyle Session Packages
Our club members are eligible to purchase discounted freestyle session packages from the Sno-King Ice Arena website to use at any of the three Sno-King Ice Arena locations.

  • Club Social Events & Club Ice
We put on a number of social events throughout the year, in partnership with Sno-King Ice Arena.  We feature seasonal club ice events, which are typically free to club members, and the club covers the cost of the ice time. This is a time to practice your skills (jumps and spins are allowed, unlike on public skate), or skate for fun with your friends. We serve refreshments and sometimes have prizes to win!  Here are just some of our club events:
                          - Spooky Skate - held in early November
                          - Annual General Meeting & Celebration - held in June
                          - Summer BBQ - held in late August

We also coordinate off-site events, for example, pool parties in the summer and more!  Check out our Events page for upcoming opportunities.

  • Our Annual Competition: Cascade Ice Classic
Every spring, we host the CIC!  The competition provides a venue for CVFSC members, plus members of other Learn to Skate USA and figure skating clubs in the area to showcase their skills in a competitive environment. Our current competition is a U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned "Compete USA" competition, serving levels from Snowplow Sam to Preliminary, plus adult and showcase. We hope to be able to offer an expanded competition in future years.
  • Club Member Rate for Cascade Valley FSC Test Sessions
Skaters looking to progress through the test track from Pre-Preliminary to Senior (Gold), will need to participate in testing. Tests are taken in front of U.S. Figure Skating official judges and require passing marks in each test to advance the skater to the next level. Skaters test in Moves in the Field (which emphasize basic skating skills and edge control), Free Skating (similar to competition programs), Pairs and Ice Dancing. The highest achievement in each discipline is the Gold Test. Skaters passing their Gold Test are eligible to purchase a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist jacket in recognition of the achievement. Click here for a visual guide to the U.S. Figure Skating test track and levels.
  • Spirit Wear
CVFSC skaters and parents are encouraged to show support for the club and its community by donning CVFSC spirit wear!  Current spirit wear offerings can be purchased now!  Members, please check your email for details.  Starting this membership year, the Board of Directors is very excited to announce that ALL new members to Cascade Valley FSC will receive a NEW club jacket!  And every renewing member will receive $50 towards the purchase of any club gear!
  • Club Discounts
Members of CVFSC get exclusive access to discounted ticket pricing for figure skating events in the Puget Sound region. Our members have attended Stars on Ice in the past and also had the opportunity to watch Skate America in Everett.
  • Eligibility to Skate in Exhibitions
In conjunction with Sno-King Renton, we help to organize U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned exhibition shows throughout the year. These include:
                          - Spring Exhibition, which helps skaters prepare for the upcoming competition season
                          - Regional Send-Off Exhibition, to celebrate our skaters who are competing at Regionals (we also provide gifts for those skaters)
                          - End-of-Summer Exhibition Show - held in late August
                          - Winter Holiday Exhibition Show - in December
                          - End-of-Summer Exhibition Show - held in late August
  • Specialty Clinics
CVFSC, together with our Figure Skating Director, work with professionals in the area and across the U.S. to provide specialty coaching and clinics for our skaters. We negotiate special pricing on your behalf to give our skating members access to high-quality coaching.  Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities which are listed on our Events page!
