Be a Part of the Success of the Club
Cascade Valley Figure Skating Club (CVFSC) is here for the support all of our skaters and is responsible to uphold the mission of the club. Without member participation, we are unable to sustain the business responsibilities that allow us to serve our skaters. Therefore, we will continue to require volunteer hours and will reinforce the participation of this policy. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Volunteering Requirements
There are a MINIMUM of six hours of required volunteer time per family/household, per year.
Cascade Ice Classic
Two (2) volunteer hours are required for the Cascade Ice Classic, held in April each year (3rd or 4th weekend), regardless of whether you/your skater is competing. It is your responsibility to be available the weekend of the competition or to contact the CVFSC president to arrange for other volunteer hours. This is a club event and is quite labor intensive in planning and executing. You may choose two of the following to fulfill your obligation:
Test Sessions
One (1) hour minimum is required for test sessions. It is your responsibility to volunteer at sessions at which your skater is testing. If you do not have a skater testing during the year, it is your responsibility to contact the president of the club to arrange for other volunteer hours. You may sign up for your preferred time when checking the test session schedule, or the test chair will assign you a time one day prior to the event. Remember, you will not be able to volunteer unless you are SafeSport certified.
SafeSport Training
Two (2) hours are required for SafeSport training (for those over 18 years of age). Completing the online SafeSport Parent Training (log in to your U.S. Figure Skating account and click on the link for ZERO TOLERANCE/SafeSport) and send a copy of completion certificate to the club at [email protected].
Note: Those who have taken the course will have a refresher course that will be worth one (1) hour per year.
Board of Directors (BOD) and Subcommittee Chairs
The BOD makes decisions regarding governances and events. It meets monthly for 1.5 hours, 10–11 months of the year (generally takes July and/or December off). The BOD makes sure the club is compliant with U.S. Figure Skating policies and procedures, communicates about events to the membership and oversees subcommittees.
The BOD consists of: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, four Members-at-Large, Junior Board Rep(s), Coach Representative(s) and Sno-King Renton Staff Representative(s)/Skating Director(s).
The subcommittees include, but are not limited to: Test Co-Chairs (2), Membership, SafeSport, LOC (Local Organizing Committee) and various event chairs.
Additional Volunteer Opportunities
Failure to comply with the required volunteer hours will result in fees of $45/hour (maximum fee of up to $270 per membership year) AND potential loss of "Member in Good Standing" status.

SafeSport Requirements for Volunteers
Per U.S. Figure Skating, you must complete your SafeSport training to volunteer at ANY EVENT. It is critical to take the training after June 1, to be able to volunteer. Without certification, you will not receive ANY volunteer hours. If there are two parents/caregivers that will be volunteering, then each parent/caregiver must complete said training. This is for the safety of your skater and other skaters.

How Do I Check My Volunteer Hours?
The board tries hard to keep all volunteer hours up to date, but please allow us two weeks to post all hours. In addition, you should be sure to sign in and out when you volunteer at events and functions so we can account for your hours accurately. If it's been more than two weeks and you believe you are missing hours, please reach out.
