About CVFSC

Club History

In February 2003, Cascade Valley Figure Skating Club (CVFSC) was recognized by Washington State as a nonprofit organization. This began a period of gathering charter members and establishing its presence in the greater Seattle area as a provisional club. CVFSC became an affiliated member of U.S. Figure Skating in March of 2006.

We owe much of our existence to Jean McDowell, who put forth herculean efforts to see that our club grew from just a "good idea," to the support system of our skating members that we know today. Since Jean's initial efforts, we have sent skaters to regional, sectional and national competitions, hosted test sessions that have graduated many gold and double gold (senior level) skaters, and hosted annual competitions.

Our Mission

To promote and foster the sport of figure skating in an enjoyable and respectful manner
for all levels of the sport.
We highly value the camaraderie of our member skaters, professionals, families and skating enthusiasts and will continue to work in partnership, to sustain and advocate our membership and the sport of figure skating. Recognizing that participants span a wide array of ages and abilities, we strive to provide an encouraging and educational atmosphere for all, whether it be competitive, recreational or social ice skating.
