For old or young, recreational or competitive figure skater, or coach; the Cascade Valley Figure Skating Club represents a diverse group of skaters who embody the Spirit of the Cascades by supporting all needs of the skater and coach.
Throughout the year we host several test sessions, club social activities arranged by our athletes' committee, as well as our annual competition the Cascade Ice Classic, held towards the end of April.
Our club fosters an environment that promotes a friendly, encouraging atmosphere among skaters in which we celebrate all successes and achievements.
Being a member of the club is like joining a community! We are all dedicated to the sport of figure skating and the well-being of our member skaters. The membership year runs from July 1st until June 30th. While we welcome skaters of all levels, CVFSC membership is geared towards skaters competing at No Test and above, and adult skaters of any level. Click here to learn more.

Club-Sponsored Activities and Events
CVFSC operates out of SnoKing Renton to support our skaters and professionals. The club is responsible for the following events and activities throughout the year:
- Competition: Every spring we host the Cascade Ice Classic. The competition provides a venue for CVFSC members, plus members of other Basic Skills and Figure Skating Clubs around the area to showcase their skills in a competition environment. Our current competition is a USFSA-sanctioned "Compete USA" competition, serving levels from Snowplow Sam to Preliminary, plus adult and showcase. We hope to be able to offer an expanded competition in future years.
- Test sessions: Skaters looking to progress through the test track from Pre-preliminary to Senior (Gold) will need to participate in testing. Tests occur in front of USFSA official judges and a pass in each test advances the skater to the next level. Skaters test in Moves in the Field (which emphasize basic skating skills and edge control), Free Skating (similar to competition programs), Pairs and Ice Dancing. The highest achievement in each discipline is the Gold Test. Skaters passing their gold test are eligible to purchase a USFSA Gold Medalist jacket in recognition of the achievement. Click here for a visual guide to the USFSA test track and levels.
- Social Events & Club Ice: We put on a number of social events throughout the year, partly coordinated by our Athletes' committee. We feature seasonal club ice events, these are typically free to club members and the club covers the cost of the ice time. This is a time to practice your skills (jumps and spins are allowed, unlike on public skate!), or skate for fun with your friends. We serve refreshments and sometimes have prizes to win! We also coordinate off-site events, for example pool parties in the summer and more! Check out our Club Activities page for more details.
- Club Discounts: Members of the CVFSC get exclusive access to discounted ticket pricing for Figure Skating events in the Puget Sound region. Our members typically attend Stars on Ice every year, and in the past year also had the opportunity to watch Skate America in Everett!
- Exhibitions: In conjunction with SnoKing Renton we help to organize USFSA-sanctioned exhibition shows throughout the year. These include the Spring Exhibitions which help skaters prepare for the upcoming competition season, Regional Send-Off Exhibition to celebrate our skaters who are competing at Regionals (we also provide gifts for those skaters), and the annual Holiday Show in December.
- Specialty Clinics: CVFSC works with professionals in the area to provide specialty coaching and clinics for our skaters. We negotiate special pricing on your behalf to give you or your skater access to high quality skate coaching.
- Dress Sale: Once a year we promote and put on our Dress Sale. The sale is an opportunity for members to sell their gently used items on consignment, and for other skaters (especially those new to the sport) it's a chance to pick up gear at a fraction of the cost of new items!
