Be a Part of the Success of the Club!

The CVFSC is here for the support all of our skaters and is responsible to uphold the mission of the club. Without member participation, we are unable to sustain the business responsibilities that allow us to serve our skaters. Therefore, we will continue to require volunteer hours and will reinforce the participation of this policy. Thank you for your understanding and support.

There are a MINIMUM of six hours of required volunteer time per family/household, per year.

NOTE:  Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made  changes to the 2020-2021 Volunteer Requirement:

A maximum total of 2 volunteer hours will transfer over from the 2019-2020 for those families that achieved this.

Per USFS, you must complete your SafeSport training to volunteer at ANY EVENT.  It is critical to take the training after June 1, 2020 to be able to volunteer.  Without certification, you will not receive ANY volunteer hours.  If there are two parents that will be volunteering, then EACH PARENT must take said training. This is for the safety of your skater and the other skaters.   For those without a U.S. Figure Skating Membership Account :
1. Go to the Members Only site on usfsonline.org
2. Click “Non-Member? Create Account” link.
3. Enter profile information and set a password on following page.
4. Click the U.S. Figure Skating SafeSport icon.
5. All compliance items are in the blue box at the top of the page. Follow steps “a” and “b” from above to complete the SafeSport training and NCSI background check.

  • Two (2) of hours are required for the Cascade Ice Classic, held in April (3rd or 4th weekend), regardless if your skater is competing or not.  It is your responsibility to be available the weekend of the competition or to contact the president of the Figure Skating Club to arrange for other volunteer hours. This is a club event and is quite labor intensive in planning and executing. You may choose two of the following to fulfill your obligation:
    • Monetary Donation: $45/hr (limited available spots)
    • Time: Serving as Runner, Ice Monitor, Awards Assistant, Registration, Music Runner, Set-up and Clean-up, etc. Minimum of 60 minutes.
    • Committee Chair: Volunteer Coordinator, Hospitality, Awards, Judges, Facilities, Goody Bags, etc. These require excellent organizational, networking and people skills. Varying time commitment from 10 to 25 hours over the course of 2 to 7 months.
    • Local Organizing Committee: Requires excellent communication, organizational and networking skills. Begins with monthly meetings in November. Overall time commitment is approximately 20-40 hours over 6 months.

    • 2.One (1) hour minimum required for Test Sessions. It is your responsibility to volunteer at sessions at which your skater is testing. If you do not have a skater testing during the year, it is your responsibility to contact the president of the club to arrange for other volunteer hours. You may sign up for your preferred time when checking test session schedule, or the test chair will assign you a time 1 day prior to the event. Remember, you will not be able to volunteer unless you are SAFESPORT certified.

  • Two (2) Hours are required for SAFESPORT TRAINING (For those over 18 years of age)
    • Completing the online SafeSport Parent Training (log into your USFSA account and click on the link for "ZERO TOLERANCE / SafeSport) and send a copy of completion certificate to the club Board of Directors (cascadevalleyfsc@yahoo.com)
    • Note:  Those that have taken the course will have a refresher course that will be worth One (1) hour.
  • Board of Directors and Subcommittee Chairs: The BOD makes decisions regarding governances and events. It meets monthly for 1.5 hours, 10-11 months of the year (generally takes July off). BOD makes sure the club is compliant with USFSA policies and procedures, communicates about events to the membership and oversees subcommittees.
    • The BOD consists of: President, President Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, four Members-at-Large, Junior Board Rep(s), Coach Representative and SnoKing Renton Staff Representative (Skating Director).
    • The Subcommittees includes, but not limited to: Test Co-Chairs (2), Membership, SafeSport, LOC (Local Organizing Committee), and various event chairs.
  • Volunteer hours can also be acquired by:
    • Attending the monthly Board of Director meetings, usually held the last Friday of the month. Please check the club website and/or electronic newsletters for specific dates and meeting agendas.
    • Assisting in planning and hosting the annual Dress Sale. Varying assistance needed from planning to running event. Time commitment of 1-6 hours over 2-3 months.
    • Assist in planning and hosting club activities and exhibition events: There are multiple events happening throughout the year, details can be found on the club calendar, club activities page, on our club Facebook page, and are also emailed to all active members.
    • Assist in planning and hosting our Annual Banquet: Planned by our Junior Board with oversight from the Executive Directors. This event usually occurs in the Fall after Regionals in October-November.
    • Assist at the annual Holiday/Inspirations on Ice Show: fundraising and assistance with traffic flow.
    • Annual Membership Meeting: Occurs in May. Assistance needed to plan and run event, hospitality and club education.
    • Donate money!  We are always happy to receive monetary donations to help fund refreshments, swag and so on for the various events and activities that are held throughout the year.  Donations can be made through the merchandise page in EntryEeze.  For every $45 you donate, you'll be credited with 1 volunteer hour.

Failure to comply with the required Volunteer Hours will result in fees of $45/hour (maximum fee of up to $270 per membership year) AND potential loss of "Member in Good Standing" status.

How Do I Check My Volunteer Hours?

Great question!  The Board tries hard to keep all volunteer hours up to date, but please allow us 2 weeks to post all hours.  In addition, you should be sure to sign in and out when you volunteer at events and functions so we can account for your hours accurately.  If it's been more than 2 weeks and you believe you are missing hours, please reach out!

To check your hours, sign in to EntryEeze, go to "Volunteer", and choose "My Volunteer Hours":
